What will be box office take for Twilight? - 3 day Weekend (Fri, Sat., Sun.)

Settled as 26 Million to less than 28 Million

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/weekend/chart/

Background:

Twilighters knew it was going to be big. Now the rest of the world knows too. The Summit Entertainment film of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight had a $70.6 million opening weekend, according to Variety—making it not only the #1 movie in the country, but also the fourth-largest opening ever for November (behind three Harry Potter movies). In fact, the release date of Twilight was originally planned for December 12, but was moved to November 21 when Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was pushed back to July 2009.

“This weekend’s huge box office success demonstrates the pop cultural phenomenon that the Twilight Saga has become,” said Megan Tingley, publisher of Little, Brown Books for Young Readers. “We hope that the movie will bring even a bigger audience to the extraordinary novels that started it all.”

Based on the film’s success, over the weekend Summit greenlighted the adaptation of the next book in the series, New Moon. The Twilight Saga has sold 25 million copies worldwide.

Will Twilight be able to continue to dominate the box office, or will the new comers take over.
