Which network will have the most viewers on Sunday night?

Settled as CBS

CBS took the night’s top honors in viewers with Fox winning the 18-49 year old demographic on the strength of a little over 30 minutes of NFL overrun featuring the Dallas Cowboys vs. Pittsburgh Steelers. The Hallmark Hall of Fame Movie Front of the Class performed solidly in terms of total viewers but 18-49 year olds preferred Desperate Housewives (the most watched program outside of the NFL overrun), Sunday Night Football and Brothers & Sisters. A rerun of Family Guy bested the movie in the demo as well (though it also bested an original airing of The Simpsons at 8:30p).

Background:

With over forty minutes of NFL overrun, CBS easily took the night in terms of viewers, and football ruled the 18-49 and 18-34 demos too, but that was for NBC’s Sunday Night Football matchup(Chicago Bears vs. Minnesota Vikings).

The 7:00p-7:30pm portion of the overrun averaged 24.35 million viewers for CBS. The 7:30p to 8pm portion averaged (~11 minutes of football and 19 minutes of 60 Minutes) averaged 19.38 million. In the 8p-8:30p half hour, which was all 60 Minutes, it averaged 17.90 million viewers.

Fox has the late NFL game this week, and NBC has NFL after that. Odds set even for those 3 networks to start.
