Will Gordon Brown withdraw his VAT reduction early?
Background: Chancellor Alistair Darling announced in the Pre-Budget Report that the Government was reducing the rate of VAT for 13 months in a bid to help stimulate the economy.
A 2.5% cut in VAT which the Government hopes will provide a boost to the ailing UK economy comes into force. Retailers have been scrambling to complete changes to their pricing systems ahead of the reduction of VAT to 15%.
Will the VAT remain at 15% for the full 13 months, or will there be changes to this plan?
