Will Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations be cancelled

Settled as Street party goes ahead as planned

The event was not canceled
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/scotland/article5426558.ece

Background:

Background: In theory Edinburgh should be the place to be to celebrate the arrival of the new year. Hogmanay is traditionally one of the largest events in the Scottish drinking calendar, and Edinburgh (in common with most other cities) lays on a massive free event in Princes Street Gardens with live music and various other activities (drinking).

Sadly the winter weather in Scotland tends towards high winds, driving rain and horrible horrible flooding, and this has led to the cancellation of the street party in both 2004 and 2007.

Arguably the organizers should have invented a fantastic line-up of bands, safe in the knowledge that none of them will ever be required to play, but since the announced acts only stretch to Glasvegas, Paolo Nutini and a couple of others, it seems that the organizers genuinely believe it will go ahead, so the question is, are they right?
