Background:

Background: http://www.teachercrime.com lists crimes commited by teachers, giving details about the offense, the offender, the school district and other related information.

In many parts of the United States, the school year ends in May or June, and this would be the time many parents would most be concerned by reports of crimes commited by teachers.

Each state has a seperate page. For instance, New York is on http://www.teachercrime.com/new_york.html

I have listed the 50 US states in groups of 5, For this question, the number of individuals named on each state's page will be summed. Which group of states will have the highest number of individuals reported by June 15th, 2009?

Washington State Court: Teachers can have sex with 18-year-olds
http://www.kgw.com/news-local/stories/kgw_011309_washington_teacher_sex_student.50ca74c.html

SEATTLE (AP) -- State law does not bar teachers from having sex with 18-year-old students.

That's the decision of a three-judge panel of the Washington Court of Appeals, which on Tuesday ordered the dismissal of a case brought against Hoquiam High School's former choir teacher.

The teacher, Matthew Hirschfelder, was charged with first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor. He challenged a judge's refusal to dismiss his case.

The appeals court unanimously agreed that the state law is vague, and that the Legislature only intended to forbid sexual contact between school employees and students who are 16 or 17.

This site now tries to redirect your browser to http://www.teachercrimes.com

If you are using Firefox, you can edit your Preferences under Advanced/General/Accessibility, to turn on the check box that says "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page". Turning this ON will allow you to see the pages referenced in this question.

(Other browsers probably have similar settings, although I don't have them installed on my computer to test them)
