
2010 US Census: How many states will lose at least one House of Representative seat?
Background: The 2010 US Census will be the 23rd census in US history. It is scheduled to take place on April 1, 2010. It will count non-citizens and the homeless. The census is used to allocate Congressional seats, electoral votes and government program funding.
According to an estimate released on December 22, 2008, eight states are expected to lose at least one state. Five states are expected to gain at least one seat.
