How will the DJIA perform in 2009?

Background: 8,776.39.

After a roller-coaster year, the DJIA closed 2008 down by 4,589.48 points, or 34.34%. The result? The number above, all by itself. How will the market do in 2009? Will we plunge down another third? Will it be like the depression, where we're down by nearly half two years in a row? Or will we see the beginning of a new bull market that leads us back to record territory?

Settlement details:Settled as the closing price on the last trading day of 2009 as reported by a major mainstream news source.

Just as a note, during the retracement at the beginning of the Great Depression, the market fell about 85%. If we were to fall as far from our highs, the DJIA would be at around 2,100.

Pixel, is this settling with the price on settlement date? I would assume so since there's an upside, but you know what happens when you assume.

rogerkni, I really appreciate the fact that you keep throwing good money after bad and keep giving me very attractive entry points to increase my winnings by the end of this year. You can temporarily mitigate your losses by throwing more money into the pot, but in the end it's where the Dow closes at the end of the year and it IS NOT going to be < 7000!
So, please keep doing it, you have been tremendous help to me!
