By how much will the cost of the PS3 drop in 2009?

Background: The PS3 might be an awesome gaming console, but it also comes at a hefty price, especially considering that game prices have jumped $10. Getting a Wii and a XBOX 360 almost cost the same price as one PS3, so when will Sony price drop the PS3, and if it does by how much will it be.

Don Reisinger from CNET predicts a $100 price cut in 2009, but will one happen? Don's main reason for thinking this is that 'the costs of building the console continue to fall and Sony's competitors continue to enjoy strong sales thanks to a lower price, the pressure Sony will feel will be too much and it'll be forced to bring the price of its PS3 down to $299 to compete more effectively against the Xbox 360 and the Wii.'

Clarification: This question refers to the 80Gb PS3 that is currently (5th Jan 2009) on sale for $399. We will use the Standard Retail Price to settle.

Settlement details:As reported by a major mainstream news source.

Clarification: It appears to be on sale on Amazon for $299: http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3-80GB/dp/B001COU9I6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1250665471&sr=8-3

If they stop making it then we would settle at a $100 drop but I think we need to wait until the end of the year to settle.

is this question referring only to the suggested retail price from Sony, or the lowest price to be found for sale online?
