Will Russia's Gazprom defeat Ukraine's Naftogaz in arbitration?

Settled as No

Russia did not defeat Ukraine in arbitration, but instead the two parties worked out other arrangements. This results in a NO settlement.

It would seem that an arrangement has been worked out that did not require arbitration. Payments are being made so arbitration is not needed at this time.

From reports on August 6:
"Russian gas firm OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) Thursday confirmed Ukraine's state gas company Naftogaz has paid in full for gas supplied in July.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko said Wednesday the government had transferred $605 million to Gazprom."

Background:

Background: MOSCOW, Jan 3 (Reuters) - Russia's gas export monopoly Gazprom (GAZP.MM) will take Ukraine's energy company Naftogaz to the international arbitration court in Stockholm over the transit of Russian gas to Europe, Gazprom said on Saturday.

"I've informed Russian President Dmitry Medvedev about the planned legal action and he approved this decision," Gazprom's statement quoted its chief executive Alexei Miller as saying.

Settlement requested Wed 5th Aug 8:05am PST by lola: It seems that Russia and the Ukraine are working out gas payment plans through bilateral agreements and not through arbitration as was indicated when this question was first created. Russia also recently signed agreements with the EU to allow for monitoring of gas which transits from Russia to the EU via the Ukraine. My initial inclination is that this market should settle as NO.

I looked over the news and have not found any info about the actual trial. There was only a plan to take Naftogaz to court but it wasn't realised.

Thank you Kolia39 -- that's the same result I found as well. Russia also recently signed agreements with the EU to allow for monitoring of gas which transits from Russia to the EU via the Ukraine.
