Will The Hinckley Company, builder of luxury sailing yachts, remain afloat through 2009?
Background: From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
Hinckley Yachts is a builder of luxury sailing yachts and jet-powered picnic boats founded in 1928 in Southwest Harbor, Maine.
Its most recent sailing design, the DS42, was nominated one of the best boats of 2005 by Sail Magazine for its innovative use of roller furling in a carbon-fiber mast. Hinckley has been noted as "a pioneer in hull construction, setting new standards for the marine industry in terms of stiffness, strength and impact resistance", using computer-aided design to optimize interior designs. The company has also been noted for its use of enterprise resource planning software to better enable its skilled craftsmen to customize its high-end boats.
Recently, Hinckley donated $3,000 in materials, the use of its facilities, and the time of its carpenters, to create a new bedroom/playroom for the ailing child of one of its employees.
