Will the couple who didn't notice $175,000 bank error be convicted of theft?
Background: BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - A Pennsylvania couple is behind bars after police say they failed to call the bank when a glitch put an extra $175,000 in their account.
Authorities say 50-year-old Randy Pratt and 36-year-old Melissa Pratt instead withdrew the money, quit their jobs and moved to Florida.
They were buying a house in the Orlando area when the mistake was traced.
The two were arraigned Tuesday on theft and other charges and jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail. A public defender was being assigned.
A $1,772.50 deposit showed up in their FNB Bank account last summer as $177,250.
Police say Melissa Pratt said her husband, a roofing installer, often got large checks and she wasn't aware of any error.

debt. Most pernicious of all Monopoly's venal influences, however, is surely the Community Chest card that says, 'Bank error in your favour, collect 200.' There's no suggestion you should alert the bank to its mistake when you can buy a couple more

abject greed and rank corruption. New 'Community Chest' cards would be added to the traditional stack that includes 'Bank Error in Your Favor. Collect $100' and 'Pay School Tax' orother astonishingly low tax that would shame any self-respecting lawmaker

Nice story and question.
Fifty-year-old Randy Pratt and 36-year-old Melissa Pratt face trial in Columbia County Court on felony theft and conspiracy charges. They waived a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
The trouble started when a $1,772.50 deposit to the Pratts' FNB Bank account showed up as $177,250 last summer. Police say that instead of telling the bank, they withdrew the money, quit their jobs and moved to Florida.
They were buying a house in the Orlando area when the mistake was traced.
Randy Pratt told the Bloomsburg Press Enterprise he did attempt to ask the bank what happened, but was ignored. He said he considered the money "a gift from God."
The couple gave away thousands of dollars, including $25,000 to a Florida church shelter for the homeless, he said.
Randy Pratt remained in county prison. A judge denied a request to lower his $100,000 bail. Melissa Pratt, who told the court she was estranged from her husband, was free on unsecured bail.
