Background: Sydney woman has issued an emotional plea for her daughter, who has been missing in London for four months, to contact her family or police.

Beryl Davenport, of Cronulla, told ninemsn she had not heard from her daughter Katrina Woods since September and she feared for her safety.

"We just want to know that she is safe, that she's OK," Ms Davenport said.

"I keeping writing her emails asking her to go to the police or call but there has been no response."

"The last time I heard from her was in an email she sent to wish me happy birthday, just a short one-line email."

Ms Woods, a 29-year-old school teacher, had been living and working in London since 2004, her mother said.

British police have issued a public appeal for information on Ms Woods, and have not been able to trace anyone who has seen her since May last year
