Will the BloodhoundSSC (Super Sonic Car) reach 1000mph?

Background: When and where will the run take place?

The Black Rock Desert in Nevada has been the traditional site for 25 years but now the desert surface has degraded and another site has to be found. It seems that there are more salt sites than brown alkali playa sites - so the BLOODHOUND is being designed to run on both surfaces. Development is scheduled to complete by 2011. When depends on cashflow - the project is funded concurrently to reduce risk of funding failure and its never easy to predict cashflow. It is hoped that the car will be completed at some point in 2009.

I assume the driver has to be alive when the run is finished. :-)
