Who will be President first?

Background: Four individuals, each in the running for a different Presidency.

Vladimir Putin has already held the post of President of Russia. Having served the maximum number of CONSECUTIVE terms permitted, he is currently Prime Minister while his protege, Dmitri Medvedev, keeps the Presidential chair warm. Putin is widely expected to return as President, but will Medvedev hold out longer than planned?

Morgan Tsvangirai will be sworn in as Prime Minister of Zimbabwe on February 11th 2009, after finally agreeing on the details of a power sharing arrangement with President Robert Mugabe. But many believe that he has already legitimately won the Presidency, in elections on March 29th 2008 - he pulled out of a run-off in response to threats and violence from Mugabe's Zanu-PF party. When will he actually assume it?

Tony Blair served 10 years as the UK's Prime Minister - Labour's longest serving PM, and the party's only leader to win 3 consecutive terms - during which period he was often accused of presidential behaviour. He is now serving as Middle East Peace Envoy. He has been widely tipped to be the first President of the European Council, a post created in the Treaty of Lisbon which would come into being in 2009 if that treaty is ratified.

Sarah Palin ran unsuccessfully as the Republican Party candidate for the position of Vice-President of the United States, alongside John McCain, in 2008. Towards the end of the campaign she was accused, by members of McCain's own team among others, of sabotaging their efforts in an attempt to boost her own credentials for a Palin 2012 run. But she was also pointed to by some as the main reason for McCain's failure.

Which will obtain their respective Presidency first?

Settlement details:As reported by a major mainstream news source. Will settle by date of inauguration of the president, not the date of election. However, may settle on the date of a confirmed announcement of the inauguration date.

Suspend date will be extended if none of them has made it by then...However, if none of the members are currently in the running for a presidential position by the suspend date, the question may have to be voided.

Sarah Palin, her star fading rapidly, may soon become the President of Wasilla PTA; would that count? ;)

Agreed: well-researched and nicely-written...
