Will there be a new incident of a shoe thrown at a country's leader?

Settled as Yes

According to various news sources, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was on the receiving end of a show throwing incident while he was in the city of Urmia this past week. The incident wasn't covered by Iran's major news outlets, as those outlets are controlled by Ahmadinejad. However, according to an article on Haaretz.com, "...it has been widely commented upon in the Islamic Republic's blogosphere, which is viewed as one of the most developed in the world. It is one of the key tools for disseminating information that contradicts the position of the regime that controls the traditional media."

Background:

Background: It has not been possible for people to display signs at public meetings with sentiments like "Give Peace a Chance" or "war kills children and other living things" as were popular during the Vietnam war, so people have resorted to less verbal means of expression. Thus we have seen a new openness in expressing less than enthusiastic support for the world's leaders, by means of shoes thrown. Recently, President George W. Bush and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao had shoes thrown at them. Despite the risk to the offender, people are really upset with how leaders are conducting the business of their countries, so I certainly think the chances of a yes, are far from zero. Plus the Iraqi was hailed as a local hero for his activity. I doubt the Chinese man received as gracious a reception.

The question is straightforward, will the top leader of another country have a shoe thrown at them before the settlement date? It does not have to hit, but it must be reported as thrown at the leader.

I'm kind of hoping it becomes a trend.

Great point about how we are not allowed to carry signs anywhere near these people...no, that stuff is reserved for the 'freedom zone'.

Hope somebody has some steel toed boots flying thru the air soon.

I would imagine this question applies only in a public setting, and it won't count if a wife throws a shoe at a husband.....

Things like spouses throwing shoes against "Leaders" of a country, I think, would count, but Ambassadors would not. Not sure if the Bush W question is serious, but NO would not count.. Must be current leader.
