Is the CIA collaborating with U.S. philanthropists in CCF-esque propaganda efforts?
Background: After the cold war, the CIA came clean about it's Congress for Cultural Freedom, one of it's most infamous cultural engineering projects in which it had been pay-rolling many unwitting intellectuals from around the world including many of the most eminent western intellectuals of the time, and including many such as George Orwell that were presumably ideologically opposed to such a project. This response to the growing momentum of communist intellectual movements, most notably spearheaded by existentialist philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre, was largely funded in secret using leading U.S. philanthropic organizations such as the Rockefeller and Ford foundations to conceal the source of the funding to the recipients, although there was also funding coming from these organizations. Given the potentially contagious nature of contemporary religious and cultural movements throughout the world, it is likely that the CIA is engaging in some sort of cultural engineering projects aimed at preventing the spread of anti-american sentiments in the U.S. and abroad. Today, The congressional chairman of the Select Committee on Intelligence is Jay Rockefeller, currently the only politician in the Rockefeller family. Is the CIA currently collaborating with U.S. philanthropic organizations such as the Rockefeller Brothers fund to create a positive view of the U.S. abroad?
