Will RNC Chair Michael Steele accept Stephen Colberts challenge to a 'Rap off' on his show?

Settled as No

Sadly, no.

Background:

Background: Background: Last week, Republican National Committee chair Michael Steele, in an interview with the "Washington Times," said he was planning an "off the hook" public relations offensive for the RNC.

"We need messengers to really capture that region -- young, Hispanic, black, a cross section ... We want to convey that the modern-day GOP looks like the conservative party that stands on principles. But we want to apply them to urban-surburban hip-hop settings."

Steele also referred to the stimulus package as just "bling bling."

Colbert has latched on to this hip-hopification of the GOP and challenged Mr. Steele to a freestyle rap debate about core conservative values.

The video of Colbert's challenge can be found on this link:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/02/27/stephen-colbert-challenge_n_170488.html

So will Michael Steele accept the challenge and come on Colberts show and rap his GOP talking points?

To qualify settlement as Yes, Steele must rap SOMETHING while on the Colbert Report. The length of the rap doesn't count, but he's gotta rhyme at least 2 sentences.

Settlement date is fixed.

Settlement details:As reported by a major mainstream news source.

Awesome question! I think the Rs will stoop to anything at this point.

The racism and ignorance of the political winds implicit in this strategy are tragic and laughable. Blacks in America are not going to simply forget hundreds of years of abuse because this puppet starts using "black lingo" that went out of style many years ago. It's a terrible insult to African Americans to believe a single one of them is that gullible. He'll probably attract more young whites than young blacks.

I kinda hope he does wind up popular with the wigger wanna be's. You know, them Slim Shady types who mimic the dress and lingo.

Those spoiled punks tend to not get involved. But they do know how to buy music. I envision the GOP putting out a rap album, maybe something like the one Bill Maher featured with Dick Cheney:

If it made sense to the GOP for Palin to do Saturday Night Live and McCain to do both SNL and Letterman, then this must seem like an ingenious opportunity to them.

according to Politico, Steele's already accepted!?!

(Oh, and as for Stephen Colbert's challenge to Steele Thursday night to come on his Comedy Central show and have a rap-off on conservative issues? Steele says bring it on.) from http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0209/19413.html

Although Steele has reportedly said, "bring it on", I'm going to wait for an actual episode (and rapping!) to settle. I would, however, like to suspend before the show that he appears on. If anyone gets wind of the date of his appearance, please flag!

Good call, Jen....I'm gonna be watching this like a hawk....a very liberal hawk.

Can't wait to see what he raps. I"m hopin it goes something like this:

G.W. was dumber,
Than Joe the plumber,
And all his war policies,
Were built on fallacies,
Now Obama's got his bling blings,
So we gotta rearrange things,
With Limbaugh and Savage,
We gonna do some damage,
But we need a younger crowd
Whose willin' to be as loud
Gonna start today,
by cutting your pay!
And let's start another war,
so defense can earn some more!

Or something like that....

When Steele "appeared" for his rap battle on the March 19 episode, Colbert actually congratulated him on winning. It's a good thing this isn't over until they both practically sing.

Yes, I saw that episode. Colbert's staff put together the rap and the video "depicting" Steele's rap and then declared Steele the winner. I'm not sure if there will be a next step.

"Republican party chairman Michael Steele, who outlined a laughable campaign to skew the GOP's principles towards "urban-suburban hip-hop settings" in February, ducked Stephen Colbert's challenge to a rap battle for so long he should just name himself Daffy".

Steele didn't do the rap: Colbert did it for him OR orchestrated it for him OR remixed it for him. It's Colbert's show; Steele didn't really participate...
