Will Brian Knight be found guilty of any crime?

Background: Brian Knight of a small rural Alberta, Canada town was charged with seven charges including assault and criminal negligence, after he encounter thieves on his property. Mr Knight chased one of the alleged thieves, who was stealing his ATV, and rammed the ATV with his vehicle. He then got a shotgun from his vehicle and took two shots at the alleged thief, slightly wounding him. The alleged thief escaped but was tracked down by one of Mr Knight's friends. Once the alleged thief was in their custody, the RCMP were called and at that time they charged Mr Knight.
