Background:
Former top banker Rijkman Groenink earned 26 million on the sale of the Dutch bank ABN/AMRO to a consortium of three foreign banks, including Fortis.
Someone who earns such amounts of additional salary and bonuses is guilty of greed ('graaien').
That is the main charge against Groenink.
Rijkman Groenink is defended by Mr. Gerard Spong. His opponents are Paul Tang, financial spokesman for the PvdA in the Second Chamber, and Xander van Uffelen, economics editor of the Volkskrant.
Groenink is the third person to be judged in the TV show by the audience and a jury, after Osama Bin Laden and Pope Benedict XIV. He will be charged in three ways, from which this one is the main accusation.
