Background:

Background: The Kentucky Derby is a Grade I stakes race for three year-old thoroughbred horses, held annually in Louisville, Kentucky, on the first Saturday in May, capping the two-week-long Kentucky Derby Festival. The race is one and a quarter miles (2 km) at Churchill Downs. Colts and geldings carry 126 pounds (57.2 kg) and fillies 121 pounds (54.9 kg).

The race is known in the United States as "The fastest Two Minutes in Sports" for its approximate duration, and is also called "The Run for the Roses" for the blanket of roses draped over the winner. It is the first leg of the United States Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing and is followed by the Preakness Stakes then the Belmont Stakes.

Quality Road is out of the race. Do I get my bet back?, or take it's current worth??

Have you ever been to the track?...This is more like a "Future bet". You simply lose your bet. But it is not too late to pick a shot. My advice here is to nail friesan fire....Do it right now...ASAP....Good luck!

@buckeyetom To a real horse track and bet real money???? Once, the trotters in upstate NY as a tourist. But just in case, I had cashed out and bet on Friesan Fire at 6.5%. You are a mind reader. I don't know anything, I'm on Hubdub to learn from interesting people around the world.

Did you go to monticello? I lived 19 miles away from there.

@buckeyetom 19 miles in which direction?

@charlesf
I don't remember. I was a little kid. We lived in a rural town called Fosterdale.

I just know I'd get on great with whoever named that horse 'I Want Revenge'.....

@buckeyetom I live about 30 miles west of Monticello but I know where Fosterdale is and have been through there a number of times over the years. It isn't much more than an intersection. I have stopped at the gas station/convenience store, ice cream stand and the bar.

I am looking in to this. The question suspended at 6:00pm as the start of the race was listed at 6:05pm. For some reason the system canceled some bets. Give me a chance to look in to this.

@beezler - you've made similar remarks before, which will not be tolerated.

There appears to be some issues with the system on this one, as the question was settled after the race at the appropriate time.
I'm going to have to check with the tech guys to see if this can be corrected, otherwise winning options will be paid out manually.
Please bare with me while I look in to this. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Sorry. I was trying to get it settled quickly. I still can't figure out why it cut off predictions.
I don't hear those with losing wagers complaining though! :)

not sure when the race was run, but I guessed luckily, and not sure when, but I sure had not heard.. I don't follow that stuff. just knew there were a LOT of horses running...
can you check on mine too?
thx, ken
posted 28 weeks ago
  27 mrperfkt[Admin]
@bigken1 - No problem. The suspension occurred well before the start of the race, so there shouldn't have been any late wagers. The issue appeared to be with the cut-off with the settlement time. Unfortunately, it's looking like that may have to be resolved manually, which may take a bit of time, but I will make sure that all winning wagers are paid out.

I'm complaining. I was refunded a $20 bet on "Any Other Horse". I don't win often. Can I have my money? :-)

Let me know if you need any help with making the adjustments...it's happened to me a couple of time on stock market questions...I've been through it before and can help out if you need it.

Actually, most players have come out ahead with their bets on the 'losers' being cancelled... there's not that many that made wagers on the correct outcome...and in many cases, the cancellation of their incorrect wagers was greater than their win on 'any other horse', so they're ahead of the game already....

I was refunded on "Any Other" as well. I made that bet at about noon (CDT) on race day. A full five hours before the race. What!? I want my money.

i would hope all would be patient with the admin (mrperfkt) look at how many sports questions we have on HD. he does a fine job getting them settled in a timely fashion. from the comments it looks like they might have been a system glitch which he had no control over. i'm not claiming i've never complained or never been impatient, but if theres an admin who deserves our full support and respect its gotta be mrperkt. i'm NOT saying the other admins don't deserve the same respect and support. they all do a fine job and get very little reward. try putting yourself in his or bayoubear's (Business admin) shoes for a day. i for one could not do what they do.

Thanks Diesel - due to the paginated comments pages people may not have been aware of what has occured, but there was clearly a technical error that occurred during the settlement of this question which was not the fault of the cat ed.

You should know by now that when technical errors occur we do our best to rectify them by paying out manually where possible and I really don't see the need for any abuse. Be patient and remember that manners don't even cost virtual money.

Ya' know mrperfkt does a super job. There are an avalanche of sports questions that he handles flawlessly. He cannot be held to blame when there is a glitch. And for the folks badgering mrperfkt, please hold your words in-check. Nice words posted here by dieseldog and tisha.

  37 mrperfkt[Admin]
All winning wagers have been paid out manually. The funds should have shown up in your net worth/cash (minus the wager amount which was refunded when they were accidentally canceled).
posted 28 weeks ago
  38 coolkraft
well as of now they have not...please look into this...it still shows as voiding all my bets..thank you
posted 28 weeks ago
  39 tisha[Admin]
Please note - when refunds are manually paid out, you will not get an auto-generated email nor will the status of the question change. Once a question is voided it can't be un-voided, and cancelled predictions can't be uncancelled.

What happens is that the category editor goes into your cash balance account and literally tops you up the amount that you would have won, so the amount goes straight into your cash balance. It is very easy to miss if you aren't looking out for it, but it has been credited.

I'm not sure to whom the rebukes were addressed, but if I came across as angry or cross, all apologies. That is certainly not the way I meant to express myself. It is, after all, fake money.

For what it's worth, my horse did not end up winning, I took the field, but I was pulling for Musket Man.

@aaronwalls - Thanks for the comment. I didn't think it came across that way. However, as a reminder to all, we are human too. I can only speak for myself, but like to try to make my best effort to settle questions promptly. From time to time, there may be a mistake with those. If that happens, please just flag or send me an email directly at mark@hubdub.com and I will make my best effort to correct any mistakes. Thanks again for everyone's patience with this one. For whatever it's worth, my own wager on "any other" was the first to be canceled on this one. Okay, so on to the Preakness....
