So if the WHO doesn't change the alert phase to 'post peak' by the suspend date it settles as the first option?

Seven - and I am fairly confident you can't prove me wrong! :-)

That depends primarily on the size of the pin, and both the size of the angels and their dance style...

I just heard on NPR that the Mexican government is saying the flu is costing them $100 million USD a day in lost business right now. If this goes on for more than a week, we're already at a billion.

Froggy, it says cost to US... . Maybe we should keep the $100 M in the + col. for the US.. :)
sql -- how about the size of the angels' feet? .. and the shape of the pin head?

06/22: "Congress approves $7.65 billion for pandemic flu response" (http://www.cidrap.umn.edu/cidrap/content/influenza/swineflu/news/jun2209funding.html)

And some of you guys still have money on the 'less than $10 million' option? :-)

In reference to the following background statement: "To be judged only if such a number is reported after the WHO changes the phase of pandemic alert for A/H1N1 to 'post-peak'." This isn't my category, so it isn't my market, but I would interpret that to mean that this market's suspend date will be pushed back until WHO declares a post-peak phase--which may not happen until the first or second of 2011--or until the highest figure ($10 billion) is reached, whichever comes first.

My way of looking at it is that there is a definite suspension date. Perhaps the creator can request extensions, if that proves necessary. I sure would hate to be looking at a void a year and a half from now.

Well, options 1 through 5 can all be superseded by higher options, so I can understand the reasoning to make the post-peak statement; it's like giving several scoring options for a sports contest market, then suspending/settling that market only when A) the game is over (analogous to WHO moving to 'post peak' phase), or B) once the option with the highest score has been equaled or bettered.
