Will the appeal of the UN peacekeepers, sentenced for mutiny after protesting over pay, succeed?

Background:>
Background: A military court Monday sentenced 27 Nigerian soldiers who had served as UN peacekeeepers in Liberia, to life imprisonment for mutiny after they protested over pay.
The military court in Akure, capital of southwest Ondo State, found them guilty of mutiny for protesting over not getting paid their foreign mission allowances when they served in Liberia between 2007 and 2008. They had legitimately protested last year for the non-payment of their foreign mission allowances, paid by the United Nations under which they served. Femi Falana, their lawyer, accused some Nigerian officials of diverting the allowance money.
He said that the soldiers, who have been detained since last July, would this week appeal the decision of the military court, which he described as "outrageous".

The surprise was, they were charged with mutiny, latest reduced to seven more years in prison. "

"Reprieve for convicted 27 peacekeepers
THE commutal by the Nigerian Army authorities of the life imprisonment sentences handed over to 27 soldiers for mutiny, to seven years, is an attempt to reduce the harshness of the military court that adjudicated over their case. But more importantly, it signposts a need for a radical review of laws and rules of the Army, not just to reflect a human face, but the modern concept of justice particularly under a democratic dispensation."
