Will Facebook introduce in-stream advertising before April 28, 2010?

Background: On April 27, Facebook introduced its Facebook Open Stream API. With the new API, third-party developers can let its users interact with Facebook without visiting Facebook.com.

According to Ethan Beard, Facebook's developer of platform marketing, the new API will increase sharing and visits to the social networking site's home page and user profiles. As a result, Facebook's advertising revenue would increase.

However, independent analysts state that Facebook will receive fewer visits causing a decrease in advertising revenue. They predict that Facebook will replace the current banner advertising with in-stream advertising. The new advertising would appear next to status updates and be pushed to third-party apps. (For example, you change your status to "I have a cold." An advertisement for cold medicine is displayed next to your status.)
