Starting with STS-127, how many space shuttle missions will land at Edwards Air Force Base?
Background: NASA normally lands the space shuttle at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. When weather conditions do not permit a landing in Florida, tries to land at Edwards Air Force Base in California. A landing at Edwards means that NASA must spend $1.7 million to fly the shuttle back to Kennedy.
If both Kennedy and Edwards are unavailable, the space shuttle can land at one of many alternate landing sites. Of the 126 missions so far, 53 have landed at Edwards, 2 failed and 1 landed at White Sands in New Mexico. The remaining missions landed at Kennedy.
