Will there be any shaft collapses during construction of the underground lab in South Dakota?
Background: Construction has began on a special lab to study Dark Matter. It is being built in South Dakota and will be six times deeper than the Empire State building is tall, or about 4,850 feet deep.
These types of projects had catastrophic outcomes in the past. Now with modern technology available will things go according to plan?
To settle as YES it must be reported that a shaft has collapsed or a tunnel caved in. No one has to lose their life. What I'm driving for here is to see if we really have the technology in place to pull off this type of project. Will settle as NO if nothing reported by the end of 2009. I don't want to drag this out for a year or two.
