Will the South Carolina LEA or SSJC investigate Republican Gov. Sanford?

Settled as SC Law Enforcement Agency Investigation occurs

Only the South Carolina LEA investigated; there've been no reports of the SSJC doing so (at least not yet).

Background:

Background: (CNN) - State Senator Jake Knotts, a Republican and longtime critic of Mark Sanford, called for a "full-blown" investigation Friday into the South Carolina governor's actions.

In a press conference with reporters, Knotts said he is actually calling for two investigations — one by the state's law enforcement agency, and the other by the State Senate Judiciary Committee with "full subpoena power."

"Irrational behavior. Lies, lies, lies. It's time that the truth to come out," said Knotts. "Like Joe Brown said, you can lie, but you can't hide… Everybody has found out where he's been hiding. In Argentina."

Knotts said he wants the investigation to focus on "the misappropriation of taxpayer money, malfeasance in office, misconduct in office and all the area surrounding the recent behavior concerning the governor's office." The investigation also would include the question of whether Sanford's office may have been deliberately misleading about the governor's whereabouts during his absence.

We are only looking for one or both agencies to launch an official investigation by settlement date. Findings are irrelevant to the settlement of this Q.
Settlement date is fixed.

WHOA.....the settlement date is freakin SEPTEMBER 26th. This is NOT a case of which investigation comes first!!!!!!

Has there been news that the Senate absolutely, definitely is NOT investigating and there's not a snowball's chance he'll be investigated by them in the next 10 weeks???

I object to the early settlement of this question without that information being provided.

Yeah, I see Ryan getting 'right on it' to fix this. What a effin joke. Last I heard he'd agreed to fix this by Wednesday evening. This place is just full of liars and power trippers.

So pleased to see this Q has gone live again. The news today smells like there's more to come in terms of Sanford being further investigated:

South Carolina Lawmakers Want Investigation Of Sanford's Pricey Trips

"State Sen. David Thomas said he plans next week to convene the budget subcommittee he chairs to begin looking at Sanford's expensive flights and whether he spent state money to facilitate his affair. Thomas, R-Fountain Inn, said someone could take Sanford to court over the budget law issue."
