ConocoPhillips Bid For Bai-Hassan Oil Field - Iraq Oil Min

ConocoPhillips (COP) has teamed up with two Chinese oil companies, China Petroleum & Chemical Corp., or Sinopec, (SNP) and CNOOC ( 0883.HK), to bid for Bai-Hassan oil field in the first round of auctions for eight oil and gas fields in Iraq, Oil Minister Hussain al-Shahristani said Tuesday.

The Bai Hassan failed to find a developer as Iraq and the ConocoPhillips-led consortium that bid on it failed to agree terms.

ATTENTION TO ALL WAGERERS ON THESE IRAQI OIL FIELD QUESTIONS

It appears that most all of the bids are being submitted, not by the individual companies as listed, but by consortiums, led by one particular company, depending upon the field.

This question will be settled based on which company is the LEAD company in the consortium. Only if there is another company involved as the lead company, or if there is a 50/50 split between two companies in the deal would the settlement be 'other outcome'

This market has been reopened to allow for continued wagering and adjustments of positions. It may be extended beyond the current Sunday deadline if need be, depending upon the scheduling of bidding events.

Resetting the suspension date until September 30th for the time being. Most of this round of auctions didn't finish up with any decisions being made, but a second round of bids will be accepted later this year.

From Kruijs:
"Iraq later this year plans to hold a second auction round for 11 oil and gas fields with the aim to boost production to about 6 million barrels a day by 2015."

http://www.tehrantimes.com/index_View.asp?code=198134

"Oil ministry spokesman Assem Jihad said Thursday that a new date for the second bid round hadn't been set, but that it could be held as early as within the next few months. It had originally been scheduled for December."
