Popularity will be based on total number of TV viewers of the NFL opening day Thursday Sept. 10 vs. total viewers of the first game of the UFL season which premieres in October.

The team owners better get busy pimping their product, otherwise not enough people will know they exist. They need to hype the new league with utter passion.

I think the popularity of the sport could hinge on signing Vick. I know I'll be watching for sure if he's playing in the debut. It may be somewhat negative publicity, but it will certainly get the name out. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4304800
