How many times will David Letterman bring up Sarah Palin in his opening monologue this week?

Settled as 4 zingers are sent Sarah's way

Dave apparently decided to give Sarah Friday night off.

Background:

Background: We've all heard about the firestorm of disapproval that occurred when Letterman made a joke about Palin's daughter, not so long ago.

Great question! And you mean one "point" as one night, not one mention during that monolog, correct?

All he has to do is mention her once in his opening monologue, where he stands and talks to the crowd, and we add another hash mark on the wall. It doesn't matter if he stands there and chants her name the whole time or he just slips a reference to her in, so long as it's about her. I think we here at HD as just as clever as Dave and we'll have no trouble discerning any veiled commentary.

I plan on tuning in each night just because of their 'history' and the events of late. I can't imagine Letterman not pointing out that HE still has his job.

Do you mean every time he mentions her during the week or how many daily monologues she is mentioned in? For example: If he says her name 5 times on Monday night is that counted as 5 or 1 at that point?

First off let me reiterate, he doesn't HAVE to say her name....if he even REFERS to her....for example.... he can call her 'that crazy broad who can see Russia from her house', ' the soon to be Ex-Governor', 'that bubblehead in Alaska',' the b*tch that tried to get me fired' or whatever he wants. We just need for him to mean it's HER.

Second and to answer your Q, buckeye, referring to her on Monday means it counts as one no matter how many times he does it. Same goes for all the other days. But it must be during his monologue. The rest of the show will not count.

I did it like this so it would hopefully be easier for the admin to verify when the time comes to settle. I can't ask Jen to sit thru 5 hours of Letterman or worse yet, ask her to COUNT each reference. But viewing the independent episodes first few moments shouldn't be too painstaking an event.

And God Bless Jen for letting this Q stand. She could've axed it just because she doesn't wanna watch ANY Letterman. So thanks a bunch Jen! I really appreciate this. : )

Thanks for stopping short of calling her a lady on option three. I think even she'd be offended by that remark (as would the rest of the female population of the planet). After all, she's no lady, she's a pitbull with lipstick. ;-)
