Will the Republicans field a candidate to run against Senator Chuck Schumer in 2010?

Suspended

Suspend date reached

Background:

Background: From Wikipedia:
Chuck Schumer, former chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, is widely expected to seek a third term.[1] In 2004, he handily defeated Assemblyman Howard Mills. Schumer is highly popular in New York, so no serious Republican contenders are likely to run against him,[2] and Schumer is heavily favored to retain his seat.[3]

There will also be a United States Senate special election in New York, 2010, to fill the Senate seat vacated by Hillary Rodham Clinton, who became the United States Secretary of State on January 21, 2009. In addition, there will be the New York gubernatorial election, 2010. The existence of two other top-level statewide races will likely lead major New York Republicans to gravitate towards them rather than challenge Schumer

just want to get clarification-- will this be settled as yes if the Republican party selects a candidate by the filing date, and not the suspend date of this question?
