Background:>
Background: WASHINGTON — US President Barack Obama will hold a prime-time press conference on July 22 at 9:00 pm (0100 GMT July 23), the White House said Friday in a post to the micro-blogging website Twitter.
In a first for the administration's relations with the media, the "tweet" announced the question-and-answer session before the White House sent out a traditional press release.
"You heard it here first: Primetime presidential news conference at the White House, Wed. 7/22 @ 9PM EDT," read the post to the 140-character blogging site on the administration's official website http://twitter.com/WhiteHouse.
The Obama administration, building on efforts by his predecessor George W. Bush's communications team, has aggressively used new media and social networking in a bid to reach as wide an audience as possible with a message unfiltered by the news media. The press conference will be Obama's fourth prime-time televised session with reporters.
It comes at a time when the White House's economic policies have drawn heavy fire from Republicans who point to rising jobless figures and a record-high deficit to brand Obama's approach a failure.
Obama also faces battles in the US Congress over sweeping legislation to fight carbon emissions blamed for global warming, as well as his stated goal of enacting a sweeping overhaul of US health care by the end of the year.
Two key House of Representatives committees have approved legislation, but Obama's Democratic allies warn that there is a long fight ahead before the House and Senate can send Obama a measure to sign into law.
"I realize that the last few miles of any race are the hardest to run. But I have to say, now is not the time to slow down. And now is certainly not the time to lose heart," the president said on Friday.
"Make no mistake, if we step back from this challenge at this moment, we are consigning our children to a future of skyrocketing premiums and crushing deficits," he warned.
Obama may be on the cusp of a major victory, however, with the Senate expected by early August to confirm his historic US Supreme Court nominee, Judge Sonia Sotomayor, as the first Hispanic on the nine-justice bench.

The clock will start with the first word he speaks, and end when he calls on the first reporter to ask a question. This might take a day or two to settle. Will use a video from whitehouse.gov or youtube to settle it.
Settlement details:As reported by a major mainstream news source.

my apology: I had to be on vacation the last two weeks with my family ...
so, sorry, jenni, that I didn't create my question sooner, but, tadaaah, here it is:
http://www.hubdub.com/m48822
but I won't tag anyone.
dieseldog: Get the next round up, you can count on me this time :-)
now as for the HD tag..i don't own it. i would say anybody who wants to start a game can. i would run the idea past the admin of the category it will be in. i don't see any questions at the moment that HD tag could be played. if obama has another prime time press conf, and admin destry oks it, i'd play again. i think the first game went pretty good. admin destry did a fine job, and even let a couple questions slip by.
anybody have any sugestions as to how to impalement a game of HD tag into another question? imo its not something we wanna do on say a weekly basis. it would get old, and confusing..especially to new members. between SDC and philcup (others as well) they pretty much got sports covered. maybe the entertainment cat will have a "postive" event coming up.
started a forum..see i haven't changed while you was gone. :O)

Evidently this took place after I began my boycott and stopped creating Q's in protest. But nothing here has changed and until it does I refuse to contribute to this site.
Sorry to have to disappoint FoF, but I do thank you for the tag. I sincerely hope someday these troubles are addressed by Nigel, Lesley, Tisha and whomever else holds the power to do so. Till then I'm only willing to participate in dialogue that may help to bring about resolution.
are you flirting with me? i can't take credit for "creating" the game. the idea came from those emails that says tag your it..no tag backs. i stold another idea from PTI (a sports show) and waiting to see if it gets approved.
