Will Gilead Shalit be released by end of 2009?
Background: In June 25, 2006, the Israeli soldier Gilead Shalit was captured by the Palestinians in a surprise attack on Israeli soil near Gaza. This brought about a further deterioration of Israel-Gaza relationship, which culminated in an Israel-Gaza war in January 2009. But even after the war has ended, the Hamas (the organization ruling Gaza) is still holding Shalit.
However, there is growing talk on both sides of working out a deal where the Hamas return Shalit in exchange for many, possibly even hundreds, of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel. Today it was announced that in a few days, the Hamas will exchange a recent tape of Shalit for 20 Palestenian prisoners, in what might be the first step toward such a deal.

Settlement details:As reported by a major mainstream news source. For the question to be settled "yes" Gilead Shalit (or his body, god forbid) must return to Israel before 2009 ends. If he ends up in Israel, regardless of the circumstances (deal, military operation, escape, etc.), the question will be settled as "yes".
