NASA said Friday it had discovered water on the moon, opening "a new chapter" that could allow for the development of a lunar space station.

Background:>
So will they find water? Apparently results will be known around an hour after initial impact.

The latest news about the moon crash is that it may take up to two months to find out whether the mission was a success or not.

I have reopened the question for now. In the event that this story drops off the news radar (possible if the PR folk somehow try to cover up the fact that the mission has failed) and there is no further news by the end of the year, this question will settle at the end of 2009. If results are not yet available by the end of the year, but there is a time frame given about when to expect results, then the suspend date may be moved forward.
Settlement details:As reported by a major mainstream news source.
