Will NASA's moon crash find water?

Settled as Yes

NASA said Friday it had discovered water on the moon, opening "a new chapter" that could allow for the development of a lunar space station.
http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/space/11/13/water.moon.nasa/index.html

Background:

Background: In around 12 hours for now, a used up spacecraft will strike the moon's south pole, in an attempt by NASA to discover whether the resultant dust plume shows any water. This would have quite a few implications, not least of which being whether we can all go and live there once we've messed earth up so much that its no longer inhabitable.

So will they find water? Apparently results will be known around an hour after initial impact.

The latest news about the moon crash is that it may take up to two months to find out whether the mission was a success or not.
http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSTRE5983CI20091009

I have reopened the question for now. In the event that this story drops off the news radar (possible if the PR folk somehow try to cover up the fact that the mission has failed) and there is no further news by the end of the year, this question will settle at the end of 2009. If results are not yet available by the end of the year, but there is a time frame given about when to expect results, then the suspend date may be moved forward.

Quite a quick turnaround on this one, as I only just found out about it - closes in 12 hours and should be settleable soon after that...and I have no idea what the odds of this might be so if you know anything about water on the moon, this could be the q for you!!

Given the extended time frame for results, I decided to reopen this one rather than have it sitting suspended indefinitely. I've added some conditions to the market background above - hope this is ok cookietime + others. I'm open to hearing any objections here if you think it will be problematic.

Perfect, that's exactly what i was hoping would happen, I was going to flag but now I don't need to...shame we have to wait so long for our results, I thought this would be short and sweet when I set up the q. Thanks Tisha!!
