Regular gas up or down? Which will come first: $2.80 or $2.60 on or before November 30, 2009?
Background: Gasoline price has been up and down this year. In early summer, the price peaked near $2.65, dropped nicely for a few weeks, but recently rebounded with a vengeance in response to signs of improvement in the economy and rising oil prices. As I write this regular gas costs $2.691 per gallon. Oil prices seem to have stabilized and the autumn is usually not a time of rising gas prices, but lately, nothing has followed the usual pattern. So, where do we go from here?
The question is: Will the price of a gallon of regular gasoline drop to $2.60 or less, rise to 2.80 or more, or remain between the two values between now and November 30, 2009 (inclusive) in the USA, as reported by AAA fuelgaugereport? The price is updated daily in the early morning hours. Due to the extreme volatility of late, I have increased the range to 20 cents!
