The 2009 event is entitled 'The World in Domino - The Show with the Flow'. It was the 11th edition of the show; it showed different aspects of the world with the display moving from continent to continent. The design uses 4.8 million dominoes. 4,345,028 dominoes were needed to be toppled in order to break the standing world record. Even though part of the final section of the piece did not fall, and three builder's challenges failed, the amount of dominoes toppled was 4,491,863 and the record was broken.

Domino Day is a world record attempt for the highest number of falling domino stones, organised each year by Endemol Netherlands. Domino Day is produced in co-operation with and by order of Endemol Nederland b.v., RTL Television GmbH, and SBS6 Television.

Together with Robin Paul Weijers, also known as Mr. Domino, parties team up to set a new world record.

The 2009 event is entitled 'The World in Domino - The Show with the Flow'. It will be the 11th edition of the show; the organizers plan to show different aspects of the world with the display moving from continent to continent. The design uses 4.8 million dominoes. 4,345,028 dominoes need to be toppled in order to break the standing world record.

* 4.800.000 dominoes in total
* 90 domino builders from 14 countries throughout Europe
* 12 coaches guide the process
* Almost a year of preparation and 8 weeks of continuous domino building
* 9.500 square meters of building space
* 1.555.500 dominoes are painted on one side for colour changing.
* 522.527 dominoes have photo sticker attached for image appearances
* 300 varieties in domino colour combinations
* 442 mechanisms in 121 different techniques
* More than 5.700 m2 floor paint
* More than 100 decor pieces

This year's domino builders are from:
Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Greece, Germany, The Netherlands, Bulgaria, Croatia, Switzerland.

On November 13th of this year the team of Domino Day will try to set a new world record domino toppling again.
