Released on parole May 9th.
Background:
Brenda Martin was found guilty in Mexico and sentenced to 5 years in jail. Canadian authorities successful transfered her back to Canada on May 1st 2008. Brenda has already served 2 years in jail in Mexico prior to sentencing, and under Canadian law that would qualify as 4 years time served. (In Canada a prisoner receives a credit of double the time for presentence jail time). Also with time off for good behaviour, a prisoner only has to serve about 1/3 of their sentence behind bars.
So with all that information. Will Brenda Martin be released by May 15th, 2008? She could be on day parole, placed in a half-way house, or any other form of supervision, as long as she is no longer incarcerated!
