lol... yeah, just having fun joking with this one.

We've had some exciting crazy frustrating debates on questions at settlement in the past. On some I won HUGE and on some I lost HUGE. So we try to ask questions upfront/early that will help make the settlement clearer.

Here is a CLASSIC one:
http://www.hubdub.com/e/Market/When_will_New_York_Governor_Elliot_Spitzer_resign_as_a_result_of_his_involvement_in_a_prostitution_ring_scandal_3983

The argument here was should this be settled as the day the resignation was ANNOUNCED or the day he actually stepped down. It is now affectionately referred to as SPITZERED - an ambiguous settlement in which the winners argue the question settled correctly while the losers argue for a resettlement and a few impartial observers try to mediate with common sense.

And my hats off to Admin and the abuse and teasing we dish out to them:

New question:
Will the Spitzer argument resume in the comments section of the Large Wild Cats question?

typing error: my hats off to Admin FOR the abuse and teasing...

They have had to put up with a lot.

For a while there were even Death Pool questions regarding how they would die... the weirdest one had something to do with an elevator... lmao!

This is a good question that just needs to be refined a bit in the settlement details. Perhaps, with the questioner's consent, an Admin can edit it into a more easily settled question.

For example:

Major American city = population 100,000+ (or whatever)
Though "large WILD cat" suggests the cat is not in a zoo perhaps an indication the animal not be an escaped pet or zoo animal might help.

Additionally, since there are many, often incorrect, sightings of wild animals it may be better to require the animal be killed, captured, or its presence be verified by a state official through evidence such as tracks, droppings, or a video.

Hope this helps.

Excellent distinction. That is a MAJOR difference, especially in Chicago. It is almost irrelevant in other major cities.

NOTE TO ADMINS: This distinction should be made part of the official rules. I suggest going with metro areas.

Our city is less than 100,000, but our msa is close to 200,000....so it does make substantial difference in the sheer number of cities about which we speak.... and no helicopters will be seen filming anything down here, but we have wild bobcats and other scary things that are ALWAYS in our back yards, even in the city limits....i guess it would be an anomally in cities greater than one million residents, and even then, some of those cities, like Austin, would not think it strange to see such a sight... i appreciate the questions, though, it gives us the opportunity to discuss not only hubdub phrasing, but differences in cultural and regional experience.... i almost hit a deer this winter on the main road into our development, in the city limits.... i almost ran over an alligator (only 6 feet long- a babe) on our golf course on hole 3 in a golf cart... and possums, armidillos, raccoons, and other creatures are always hanging about waiting to scavenge our dumpsters.... no wild elephants down here, though....

I want to CONGRATULATE our NEW MEMBER -- valornhonor -- on providing hubdub with many fine and interesting questions this past week! valornhonor is getting "the hang" of how to write our questions very quickly, without being "spitzered", as our friend fingers_of_fury mentioned in number 8 above.

Your questions are fun, fascinating, and surprisingly prolific...Many Thanks, and I look forward to seeing your next questions...!
