Background: After Microsoft walking away from the Yahoo deal their are long term questions on everyone's mind like: How long with Steve Ballmer last as Microsoft CEO? Can Yahoo remain independent? and Will Yahoo buy AOL from Time Warner?

Immediate question

However the immediate question on everyone's mind is: What price with Yahoo's stock price finish trading on Monday? Top technology blogger and VC, Fred Destin (always a great read), has created a poll on it (http://tinyurl.com/58jejf). It is currently projecting $22 per share. However what does the market think?

Settlement details:Will be settled as the outcome that is closest to the actual closing price for Yahoo.

[Note: This question is an exception to the rule of no questions on individual stock prices that was introduced to reduce gaming. In this instance I checked with the Business category editor prior to question creation. He agreed as there was very significant interest in this story then this question should be allowed]

I thought we weren't supposed to be dealing with individual stocks?

I understand the newsworthyness of the question, so can other newsworthy questions regarding individual stocks or stock results be brought back?

We made an exemption on this case because it was such a big news story. It is being discussed in pretty much all the big tech blogs after Microsoft pulling out of the deal.

What if Yahoo! closes at 21, 23, 25, etc? The "winner" goes to the choice the closing price is closest to?
posted 1 year ago
Yes, that is in the settlement details.

let's just hope it doesn't close exactly between 2 choices...

Thanks. Can't believe I overlooked that in the Settlement Details.

Don't worry *everyone* overlooks the settlement details. Something we should fix some time.
