1. If the jump is postponed for any reason, would this settle as "no"?
"Fournier has attempted his stunt twice, but technical and weather-related problems foiled the efforts before he left the ground. The most recent attempt, in 2003, failed when his balloon ruptured before takeoff."
1(a). If, say, his balloon ruptured again, would this settle as "no"?
2. Some clarification on the 4-day window would be helpful. (Are they consecutive days?)
3. Can the term "attempt" be clarified ... how would the question be different if the word "attempt" were not included, and the question was "Will Michel Fournier make a successful jump from 40000 m (130,000 feet)?"
(For comparative context, "Will Manny Ramirez attempt to hit his 500th home run this weekend?" vs. ""Will Manny Ramirez hit his 500th home run this weekend?")
1. If the jump is postponed from today, for any reason, including weather & balloon rupture, we will give him to the end of the week (Saturday May 31st) to make a jump. The question will remain suspended until then. If by the end of the week, there has been no jump, it will be settled as "No".
2. "Successful attempt to jump" will be taken to mean he makes the jump from the given altitude, lands, and survives.
OK with everyone?
Lesley.
