Just rumors?

Probably... but it only takes one drunk idiot to throw a bag of urine or blood at the police.

Will anyone throw urine or blood at the police at the Denver DNC Convention, August 24 - 28???

@randburg & valornhonor & other wise hubdubers: I look forward to comments concerning settlement problems/issues. I would like all the eyes dotted and tees crossed before much wagering occurs and hopefully through clarification avoid problems at settlement.

F O F - I live about 60 miles north of the proposed demonstration area. I hope there will be no violence but fear that is a naive idea. I am a budding photographer and I would actually like to strap on a helmet and stand near the police lines to capture images of the riots as they break out. Then offer my photos "Pro Bono" to police if it would assist with ID and arrest.

At this point, I have not spoken with DPD about being on the street, but know that police are not fond of cameras in an event like this. The ACLU and Operation Cop Watch have made the police leary of cameras, when they do not know the shooter. As such, I doubt I will get the blessings of DPD in my efforts to break into photo-journalism as a new career choice.

In regards to your question, I think feces should be part of the mix, as well as blood and urine. The difficulty in settleing this question will be in the quality of news coverage allowed, if things get as nasty as R-68.org is hoping for, I see a scenario where the police might be deluged with "missles" but if the reporters are chased away, there might not be any reports of it.

@chatarra - thank you for your input... very interesting to hear from someone that lives near Denver. I too hope there will be no violence... I prefer to believe recreate68.org intends no violence... but it seems to me that their choice of name is inviting trouble

So it seems YES is a higher probability than I first thought, but should still be low odds due to possible media block-outs

I regretfully have to concur with chatarra's assesment, there seems to be a seething resevoir of vitrolic anger amongst these folks and with the advent of texting and mass immediate communications I think the possibility for a coordinated disruption like you've described is more likely that 17%, maybe 1 in 3. As far as clarification goes, I guess you could also include some dates, say a day or two prior to and running through the convention.

@valornhonor - Thank you for the comments.

In the background info I phrased the question: "Will anyone throw urine or blood at the police at the Denver DNC Convention, August 24 - 28???" Hopefully that sentence will help with clarification.

If the media is blocked-out, I'm guessing many people in the area, including protesters, will capture events with cell phone cameras and upload video/pictures to the internet.

This occurred just 9 blocks from the location of the DNC Convention.
It is an area known for problems at closing time or "Let Out" as it has become to be known.

http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/16679146/detail.html
DENVER -- Police breaking up a gunfight in the popular Lower Downtown area shot and killed one man and critically wounded another man after both allegedly fired a shotgun at the officers early Sunday.

Police Lt. Ron Saunier said the officers were on routine duty helping crowds move out of LoDo as clubs were closing when they saw a fight begin. He noted "there are thousands upon thousands of people" in the area almost every night when clubs close at 2 a.m.

And to think these people are the same ones decrying a lack of free speech.
Any previous ambition to photograph some of the protest has just been squashed in favor of self preservation. I am much too small (physically), to get into a crowd scene like that by myself.
