Will measurable rain fall on Olympic stadium during Opening or Closing ceremonies?

Settled as No rain @ either event

While possible rain was in the forecast, no rain occurred on the stadiums at either event.

Background:

China is going to great lengths to ensure that everything will be smooth for the Olympics, even trying to ensure good weather... The Chinese want nothing left to chance at this summer's Olympics—not even the weather.

State scientists hope to provide blue skies for the opening ceremonies by "seeding" clouds to squeeze rain from them in the days before the games begin...But at least one expert believes tourists may still need their umbrellas.

Weather modification is notoriously difficult to quantify, and such claims raise doubt—particularly because China employs techniques developed decades ago, Roelof Bruintjes said.

"There is no scientific evidence available that can substantiate their claims at the moment," said Bruintjes, lead researcher of the Colorado-based National Center for Atmospheric Research's international weather-modification programs.

I think China will concentrate more on controlling crowds than clouds, but they will give seeding a try.
