Did he say "it happened in Canada"?

Sounded like "Canada" to me. Slips like that make me wonder about the credibility of some people.

I'm surprised the Canadian press isn't onto this. Although, the video was only posted yesterday on youtube.

What the detainee (Murat Kurnaz) said was "it happened in Kandahar" (or Qandahar).

The US maintains a base there (southern Afganistan). The quality of the video link, coupled with English as a second language contributed, I think, to it sounding like "Canada".

Thanks wrangler.
I like how you always get to the bottom of things.

And why are we supposed to believe his story? These polititians sicken me. They trust a terrorist's story over a citizen's. They give this low life preference as if he were protected by the constitution. I bet they hope he will be able to vote soon...

Here is what they are really like:

I think it is worth pointing out that this man spent 5 years imprisoned without charge. He is considered innocent by German intelligence, and US intelligence including the FBI.

Referring to him as a terrorist is inaccurate. If he is indeed innocent he does not deserve to be referred to as a terrorist and I believe he is entitled to some mutual respect.

I know that CBS tries to give the impression that he was over there innocently, (kind of like Daniel Pearl, or Nick Berg)

There is another angle to the story though - just to be fair:

He sure doesn't look so innocent from these articles...

I'm confused now
Why is he free?
And why no mainstream articles?
Is 60 minutes that unreliable? If these articles are true it seems that they actually intended to mislead the viewers.

Yeah, that is kind of troubling to me too.

I like to get my news from more than one source, just to get more details and possibly find out some of the parts that may have been "filtered" for one reson or another.

Oops - I should have typed "reason" :-)

On June 26, 2008, John Yoo and David Addington, two leading architects of the Bush administration's policies on torture, testified before the House Judiciary Committee. Even seemingly simple questions yielded evasive answers.
