Will there be a fifth Indiana Jones film starring Indiana Jones?

Current forecast: 25% chance
Combining all predictions, the current forecast is that this is 25% likely to happen (unchanged in last 1 day)

The fourth installment of the Indiana Jones movies has been doing well at the box office. Will Harrison Ford make a fifth Indiana Jones movie? The question will be settled as "yes" if a fifth movie (starring Ford) is formally announced by the studio by December 31, 2008

Settlement details: If IMDB (www.imdb.com)reports a new Indiana Jones film, starring Harrison Ford, as “in production” by the end of the year, then that would be a “yes.”

The first thing i heard about this movie is that shia L is supposed to be taking over from Harrison Ford after that, so I have to say that Yes, there are definitely more Jones films in the works.

I had heard that there would be more movies as well, but whether they announce it in 2008 is the question.

but will Harrison Ford star in a 5th movie -- I got the impression the baton was being passed.

With regard to ironman288's comment, the background says "The question will be settled as 'yes' if a fifth movie (starring Ford) is formally announced by the studio by December 31, 2008. " It seems to me the background indicates that it is a "yes" only if it is staring Harrison Ford. Not only that, Lucas and Spielberg are also mentioned. Are they required since the last part of the background does not mention them? It doesn't seem like they are needed since the last part of the background excludes them. Maybe we need a slight bit more clarification.

No, that is not excluded. In the phrase "Will Harrison Ford, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg reunites at least one last time to make a fifth Indiana Jones movie?" the question is clarified regarding the question title. The last phrase (the one you refer to) only makes clear that Ford must play the starring role - not just be an appearing actor where there is a new, younger starring Indy-figure.

well I'm cashing out, I heard from the start that Ford was NOT going to be the main guy in any future movies...

One potential issue could be the definition of "stars" or "starring" ... while there are dictionary definitions, there are also motion picture and performing arts definitions (which are included in dictionary definitions). Harrison Ford is, without question, a "star". I have little doubt that if/when a new film is shown the credits will say "starring Harrison Ford".

I'm not advocating for one definition over another -- just a thought about getting clarification / understanding / agreement up-front.

Said differently, if this were a question about Academy Award nominations, the choices might be "Best Actor" or "Best Actor in a Supporting Role".

**PLEASE NOTE: The background to this question has been edited for clarification following discussion with the question creator. There is now no mention of Lucas and Spielberg - they do not need to be involved for this to settle as Yes.

Please also note specific settlement details.

So, if Harrison Ford returns in his (starring) role of Indiana Jones, will this settle as "Yes"?

If it's reported that Ford is starring the next installment then the market settles as a yes. This will be based on reports from sites such as imdb.
