How Long Will It Take PayPal To Fix The Drop Down Menu Bug?

Settled as May 27-28

Background: TechCrunch are reporting that a small bug in the PayPal payment system which is causing merchants to lose money has not been fixed for over 10 days. PayPal have acknowledged the bug in a blog post but not fixed it. TechCrunch reports:

It appears that they simply aren’t storing the value of the country when a user changes it, a very simple thing to change, perhaps a single line of code. In fact, it probably took them longer to write the blog post noting the bug than it would have taken to simply fix it. The most likely explanation for the ridiculous amount of time it has taken to fix it: it’s probably stuck in a bug queue, and has to wait its turn.

My personal experience with PayPal is that they excel in poor customer service. Their developer relations is so bad that developers I know who have had to integrate with PayPal come out in a rash if their name is brought up. This bug seems to have caused a lot of that anger to boil over with it being angrily discussed at Get Clicky, CenterNetworks and the PayPal Developer Community.

Settlement details:As reported by PayPal or tech news source. Bug is being tracked here: http://www.pdncommunity.com/blog/article?blog.id=mts_updates&message.id=205

If you dislike PayPal as much as I do, get ready for even more fun to come. EBay is testing in Australia if they can muscle it in as the only real choice (there, then everywhere else). If you would like further info on this and to predict on the outcome, see the following :

Sorry Nigel about advertising on your question, but this issue (and my question) are not getting much traction.

No need to apologise - it is a relevant and topical question (and I'm with you on PayPal...)

PayPal's customer service is abominable! I have a merchant account with them and they are impossible to reach by phone. When you are then forced to reach out to them by e-mail they tell you they may take several days to respond and they use the full measure of that time. When they finally do respond they direct you to a FAQ page or canned question knowledgebase that you have probably already reviewed prior to contacting them. After running through this frustrating cycle with them a few time you finally get a human being responding to your e-mail and, though polite, they have been quite incapable of attending to my concerns. What sucks is that 1) my money is involved, and 2) there are very few competitive choices in most instances. They are the Microsoft of the online money transfer world, a moniker they should wear with shame.
