Are Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson lovers?

This punditwatch person sure asks some off the wall questions.

Boston Globe says that they want to get married.

The settlement details say Lohan and Ronson have to confirm it. The Boston Globe article repeats the same rumors that got this story started in the first place. I think we need to wait for something official from one of the girls.. (this would have settled it nicely: http://www.kbsradio.ca/news/music/55/730759 )

the first line of the story starts out "Lindsay Lohan has announced", how is that a rumor???

The 'Mean Girls' star was seen sporting a ring at the Dolce and Gabanna party at the Cannes Film Festival, in France, and reportedly told her former lover, British model Calum Best, the pair are engaged.

Its a rumor because she announced it to a person who in turn told that someone who than told a reporter who published it and another author copied the text.

"Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan has announced she wants to marry her girlfriend, Samantha Ronson."

the title on the page is: "Lindsay Lohan wants same-sex marriage - report"

It's a report, they are reporting this as a fact.

Also I've never heard of someone spreading rumors about themselves. If she said it, to anyone, it is now a reportable fact. It's not like we can wait to see them get married, it's not legal yet, and for the same reason they can't really be engaged in the traditional sense with any certainty. However the questions just asks if they are lovers, and clearly if their talking about marriage they are.

Well it was finally voided, which works for me I kind of expected that when i find the articles... The real question is why did I have to submit two settlement requests? Very bad form on the part of the Admin and the super users on this question, when the Boston Globe says something it is not something you have to wait for others to corroborate, that should be a mainstream enough source to settle on, plus the info was out conclusively before the question was made and the superusers are up there saying we need to wait for more sources...

I know you guys usually do a good job, that's why I find it so hard to believe how badly this question was handled.

Just to explain my opinion (this market is voided, anyway) about "rumors": I stated it was rumored because she did not say it to the reporter who published it. If she has said something to someone she knows and that person tells someone else who than tells a reporter.

Super users cannot settle markets, just suspend them, pending administrator intervention. For the most part we limit ourselves to suspending questions whose premise has already been reached (such as a sporting event whose outcome is known), and questions with obvious errors (overlapping choices, question differs from settlement details).

I haven't really looked at, or expressed any opinion about, this particular question. I'm just making sure the "power" of the super users is clearly articulated.

Yep, no blame should be laid on the Superusers feet they'd informed me of the situation I'd just not gotten around to it in a timely fashion. Take my head not theirs!
