Will Congressman Jefferson of New Orleans be re-elected in November, 2008?
Suspended
Suspend date reached
Background:>
OK...the investigations continue...Congressman Jefferson was the one found with $100,000 in 'cold cash' in his DC area home freezer. Now more investigations and more arrests and indictments of family members, and he'll still probably run for re-election in New Orleans. He's already been re-elected once since these allegations were originally made back in May of 2006. His sister, New Orleans assessor, and her daughter and his brother Mose were indicted on Wednesday on charges of diverting millions of dollars from New Orleans charities.
So will the voters of New Orleans return him to office AGAIN in light of these developments? Wonder if Obama will stay clear of him in the campaign?
Question will suspend prior to the November federal elections, but the Louisiana races won't be decided until a final ballot in December. Jefferson is unlikely to lose against a Republican in his district, so if he does win on 11/4, he's a pretty sure shot to get back in. Question will be settled after the December election, 12/4/08.

"The corruption accusations were a persistent problem for him then, but he overcame the odds and won in a landslide. Two week ago federal prosecutors indicted some of his family members on unrelated fraud charges. Jefferson has pleaded not guilty to charges of soliciting more than $500,000 in bribes while using his office to broker business deals in Africa."
Obviously, ethics are not part of his consideration about running again. Unfortunately, I have little doubt that he will be elected again.
