http://blog.twitter.com/2008/06/we-made-it.html shows twitter did not go down until after the Conference. Sweeeet for all NO votes :)

Me thinks that Twitter was not working for 20 minutes. They disabled 90% of the features and it still would not take updates or give them.

what about this part...

"About 4% of requests during this time did return the page that asks folks to wait a few minutes and try again. However, we learned a lot during this stress test and that will translate to better performance down the line."

Does this not count as down...?

The page that Nigel refers to ( http://www.istwitterdown.com/ ) never changed. My browser has checked it every 5 minutes throughout, and they wouldn't have changed it unless it crashed.

sure sounds like yes to me. when i couldn't access twitter, and friends across the country couldn't, I count that as down. Even if it was brief, it was down.

I've just sent in the following flag:
So the blog suggests they did fine during the keynote address, but they did go down afterwards... I was thinking the market was only for the 2 hour keynote, but the market does actually say the 'conference' which goes on all week (?). So the fact that it went down after Job's talk actually might settle this as yes... Sorry if my settlement request earlier was in error.

Here's the blog again and another that makes it clear that it DID go down after the keynote for an extended period of time:

Twitter didn't go down however a small percentage of users did lose connectivity for a period. We had to make a call on this one but this minor outage doesn't really compare to previous complete failures. Other critics such as TechCrunch considered it a pass: http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/06/10/twitter-fails-to-fail-community-rejoices/

It is a close decision. The literal interpretation would be probably be Yes but I thought it better to interprete the spirit of the question. Escalate to Get Satisfaction?
