How many times will McCain mention "Bush" at the Republican Convention?

Settled as McCain mentions Bush 3 times or less

A variation of another question and the opposite of the question about Obama mentioning Bush. Barack should be pleased to refer to Bush, but McCain might not want to reference the current President that much.

He kinda wants to run away from Bush in his pursuit of the presidency. McCain will have to mention him sometime, after all, he is the current Republican President and party leader, but McCain also wants to stand on his own, away from the Bush record.

Settlement details: Hubdub Category Editor has agreed to watch McCain's Keynote speech which is what this market refers to. Only "Bush" will count as a reference

Settlement requested Fri 5th Sep 7:34am PDT by deelilley: "George W. Bush, who happens to be president now -- and one of the least popular in history -- was not mentioned by name during the speech; he has been largely a nonentity in the world created by the convention organizers and participating speakers. McCain alluded to the fact that "some Republicans" gave in to "temptations" in recent times, but like much of the speech, this was vague and evasive."

Settlement requested Fri 5th Sep 7:54am PDT by deelilley: "In his acceptance speech shortly afterward, Mr. McCain thanked “the president,” without naming him, for leading the country “in those dark days” and for “keeping us safe from another attack.” But he made no further reference to Mr. Bush, and when it came to the improved security in Iraq over the last year, he credited “the leadership of a brilliant general, David Petraeus.”

LOL
Settlement requested Fri 5th Sep 2:22pm PDT by owlcreekobserver: Senator McCain only used the word "Bush" one time in his acceptance speech, and that was when he referred to Laura Bush.

waits for Obama to begin refering to himself in the third person, and the Hubdub question "How many times will Obama refer to Obama at the convention?"

Please clarify: does it count if he mentions "his predecessor", or just if he utters the word "Bush" in reference to W?

The name Bush actually has to be said...I suppose there should be an exception if the reference is to another member of the Bush family, but the name actually has to be said.

For settlement, we'll be depending on mainstream news sources, so we'll actually be depending upon them to keep count for the most part...just like anything else...I guess if there are two conflicting reports, we'll take the one that has another in agreement or just average them...getting complicated here!
