I'm confused. This market suspends Tue. 20th Jan. 2009 at 11:59 P.M. However, Bush won't be in office at that time. The next President will be sworn in at noon on that day.

This suspend date should be changed. Bush won't be in office at 11:59 PM on Jan. 20th of '09.

...and the House won't be in session.

Changing the suspend date to 12 hours earlier isn't really a big deal. Definitely not something worth two separate comments. If it bothers you, then flag the question, that will email it to the category editor for review. If you don't see a response in a few days (category editors are part time employees), then forward the question using the help contact us feature, that will get it to an admin for review.

I flagged it long ago, O super-duper destry. I see many markets suspended for lesser offenses.

@Erik - long ago? Question is just 8 hours old. When the suspend date won't impact the settlement of the market, the odds of it occurring then suspending market makes no sense.

<chuckles> That's just it, destry! The suspend date is after the date that the market will be over. Of course it will effect the market. The answer will be known before the market is closed!!!!

However, I'll back off if you give me your word that I'll be able to place a bet on the afternoon of the 20th, if there is nothing in the news stating that Representative Dennis Kucinich did not succeed in passing resolution to impeach President Bush.

...after all, it would be before the suspend date and as you say, "...the suspend date won't impact the settlement of the market..."

Thank you Ryan for fixing - and Erik for noticing - my error.

WASHINGTON - The House has voted to send articles of impeachment against President Bush to a committee that is not likely to hold hearings before the end of his term.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, who ran for president earlier this year, insists that his resolution deserves more consideration. He spent more than four hours Monday night reading his 35 articles of impeachment into the record. . .

Four friggin hours - are ya kidding me????????
They ought to impeach Kucinich for political grandstanding.

Bush can still be impeached after he leaves the White House. Therefore, if the suspend date is to be changed at all, it should be moved to a date later in 2009. Impeachment does not removal from office. Bill Clinton proved that not too long ago.

For laughs, check out Dennis and his appeal for impeachment here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0LBZq_3yNU

@CCV - You live in a very beautiful part of the country. I have visited the Outer Banks on 2 different occasions.
In regards to your assessment, you are correct about being able to impeach Bush after he leaves office. However, the odds of that happening are probably slim to none. Hasn't happened since 1876, that I can find. I believe the effort to impeach Bush is not favored by the majority of the country and points to why Congress has an even lower approval rating the Bush.

@NN - The end of the video shows an interesting phrase:
"America's Most Courageous Congressman"

Excuse me, while I go puke.

@chatarra:

Yeah - that is a grandiose overestimation, at the very least! LOL
