(note: past tense)

"The city council member who recommended the ban said the rule to outlaw bikinis was simply "an oversight." At the council's meeting last week she recommended a new rule be put into place revising the ban to include thongs and string bikinis only. In doing so the pool in Kanab would still require G-rated swimwear, but exclude the controversial G-string.

While Kanab has a reputation for being one of the state's more conservative communities, city leaders say they didn't mean to cause such an uproar with their bikini ban.

"We were so engrossed with safety and health issues we overlooked the wording," one city council member said. "We are addressing that now by amending the policy."

According to news reports, as it stands now, bikinis that don't reveal too much will be allowed, as will Speedos for men (note to Beach Bob) when the community's new public pool - known as the Cowboy Water'n Hole - opens July 4th."

Settled as 'String bikinis and thongs remain banned.' Sat 5th Jul 6:02pm PDT by ryanj[Admin]: No back voiding of predictions will occur as the news regarding the ban and the specifics only appeared after the market suspended. Thanks should goto Newswrangler who worked hard on getting this market settled, even getting in contact with the community in Utah. In the end "g-string" type bathing suits shall remained banned. We have it from good authority that thongs and bikinis fit into the middle option for settlement.

who would go to a pool with no bikinis?

I think they'll ease up for the exact reason ironman just gave. I know Utah lawmakers aren't too keen on dancing, but I'm pretty sure they still like scantily clad women.

Providing all ten scantily clad women are their wives, I suppose. And Ironman 288 - I would definitely go to a pool where there no bikinis. Or any other clothes.

@gingerboi

I don't doubt your willingness to expose yourself to strangers at a pool, but I thought sunlight was dangerous (even fatal) to gingers ;)

KANAB - The bikini ban has been banned.
Even before Kanab's soon-to-debut city pool opens, the City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night to lift its short-lived prohibition on two-piece swimsuits.
Instead, the southern Utah city is barring "thong swimwear" - a rule similar to other public pools in the Beehive State.

Interesting ...so how does this one get settled then? NONE of the options (IMHO) work for the settlement to the decision that has been rendered. The bikini ban has been lifted, but the thong ban remains in place ... so option #2 does not apply. It is not a total lifting of the ban and therefore option #1 does not apply, and the ban does not remain firmly in place and therefore option #3 does not apply.

This was an excellent question but probably should have had one more option: Bikini Ban is lifted, Thong Ban remains in place, and then the market could have been settled.

I think you have a valid point Paul.
looks to me like a void.
...unfortunately.

I searched "string bikini' with 'moderate safe search: on' and another for thong bikini and there is a difference.
Many string bikinis would be tolerated; thongs not.
posted 9 weeks ago
G "string" bikinis, as well as thongs have both been banned.

The official minutes of the meeting should be on the website sometime tomorrow.

As I read the info, bikini's like the ones pictured to the left of this questions headline would be appropriate swimwear. As NewsWrangler indicates G "string" bikinis, as well as thongs, both remain banned. If the official minutes will assist in sorting this out, then by all means we should wait for further clarification.

I am starting to think that lifeguards (AKA bathing suite inspectors) will have the same problem - deciding which bikinis are OK and which are not.

Note to self:

Even though "string bikinis" may remain banned, along with thongs, I still do not see that there is going to be enough information provided in the minutes to settle this one to the satisfaction of everyone. The ruling is vague and the possible outcomes on this question are just as vague. It is unfortunate that someone did not pick up on the vagueness of this question prior to the suspension date. I would suggest a void on this also to alleviate any possible conflict that could occur from a "wrong verdict."

I am just wondering though if they want any bikini inspectors ...because I am more than willing to volunteer for the position ... and I feel that to do a proper inspection, it would be a real hand-on job! :-)

so... who is headed to Kanab for the market research to settle this burning issue?

Per Google maps - I am only 658 miles away.
The weather is cooperating:
10 day forecast for Kanab, UT being in the low to mid 90's with lots of sunshine.
